This summer, temperatures across Japan have once again exceeded 35°C (95°F) in many areas.
On July 27, 79 hens died from heat stress in one of the egg farms documented by the Inside the Cage investigation.
In the days that followed, we continued to record the deaths of many more hens.
Inside the cages, the hotter it gets—and the longer the heat continues—the more hens lose their lives.
That is why, on That is why, on August 8, we will hold a street action and a Candlelight & Social Media Action to remember the hens we documented this summer through Inside the Cage, and to stand with the millions of hens who continue to suffer inside cages.
Join us on social media or at our street action.
The goal of this event is to help as many people as possible discover where their eggs come from.
On August 8, we will hold a street action in Akihabara, Tokyo, while people across Japan—and around the world—are invited to take part in an online candlelight action.
We have prepared images, videos, frames, and other materials to help you share the reality of egg-laying hens on social media.
Simply download and post.
Feel free to edit or customize the materials.
You’re welcome to add your own message.
If you light a candle at home or elsewhere, please share a photo or video of it as well.
Every post helps another person see what happens inside the cage. Together, our voices can become a light of hope for hens who are still suffering inside cages.
Please help us light a candle of hope for hens around the world.
