Fur garment imports down 43% from last year. Down 89% from when the campaign began!

The 2000s were really terrible.  Everyone had animal fur around their necks.  In 2006, fur garment imports peaked and as many as 21,331,530 fur items were imported.  This means in one year, 20 million people purchased fur garments. The campaign against fur was launched in the wake of an investigation video showing the actual situation of the Chinese fur industry released from late-2005 to 2006, and a march against fur began in the same year 2006.  Actions in front of stores, simultaneous campaigns around the world, letters and requests to companies, public outreach, whatever we could do, the movement continued to spread.  Demonstrations marches were held simultaneously in 12 regions,…

Good news! Honeys Holdings for teens apparel is fur-free!

Honeys Holdings, famous for casual fashion for teens, turns out to be fur-free! Although Honeys had not replied as being fur-free as a company despite having already stopped handling real fur a while ago, and therefore could not be called fur-free, in response to an inquiry from the Animal Rights Center, it replied clearly that “We have already abolished handling of fur including in the future”. Good news! MIKI HOUSE for baby and children’s clothing, fur free!

The first good news of 2020 is MIKI HOUSE for baby and children’s clothing being fur free! In response to an inquiry from the Animal Rights Center, MIKI HOUSE replied that it had already stopped handling animal fur and will not do so in the future. With its reputation where it’s rare for people to not have heard its name in Japan, Miki House being fur-free is a huge step forward for animals. Good News! Ireland Approves a Ban on Fur Farming

IRELAND, 3 JULY 2019 – Ireland is set to become the 15th country in the European union to ban fur farming after the country’s cabinet approved to phase-out fur farming. The bill is expected to be introduced into the Dáil, the Irish parliament, in September. The Fur Free Alliance urges the Irish government to stay committed and join the majority of European countries in making an end to this barbaric industry. Good news! Fashion Center Shimamura is fur-free!

We learned that the 2nd largest apparel company in the country, “Shimamura Group” had stopped selling fur (real fur) and has been fur-free since 2018, thanks to a response we received from Shimamura Company Ltd. Shimamura Group has 1430 stores in Japan just counting the Fashion Center Shimamura, holds about 700 other stores for brands such as Avail and children’s clothing Birthday, and is also advancing to Taiwan and Shanghai.
