Animal sacrifices for furs purchased by the Japanese decreased by 97,470

Animal fur (real fur) tortures animals, kills them, becomes a breeding ground for zoonotic diseases, and is bad for the environment… This unethical and unnecessary “material” is steadily heading towards zero.

We calculated the import volume of fur and fur products from the 2022 Ministry of Finance trade statistics.

In 2022, compared to 2021, numbers have decreased slightly as below: The fur itself decreased by 11.76% in number and by 19.12% in weight.

Fur products decreased by 9.1% in number and by 2.15% in weight.

When converted to the number of animals, the amount of 97,470 animals have decreased. In 2021, the number of victims was 496,900, but in 2022, it was 399,430. If we can reduce the number of declines at this rate, it will be extremely close to zero by the end of 2026. However, it is actually difficult to reduce it from here.

There are not many people who actively want to buy fur, in other words, who only want to buy animal fur. In the last 15 years, society has changed as people and companies who used to say they don’t need fur but it was attached to the clothes they bought, or that the design they liked had fur on it, or that eco-fur is enough, have learned about the suffering of animals and started to avoid such products.

Today, animal fur is an thoughtless thing that degrades a person by wearing it.
