We met Sakura at a slaughterhouse in the winter of 2016.She was loaded onto a truck, bloody, with her intestines protruding from her body. She endured most of her life in a gestation crate, small crates designed for pregnant farm pigs that do not allow for movement. She was unable to even turn around or interact with other pigs. She was raised just to bear and deliver piglets. The day that she was finally allowed to leave the crate was the day that she was brought to the slaughterhouse. She could no longer be used as a breeding machine so there was no need to keep her alive. She was transferred from the gestation crate to a truck, not to be treated, but to be disposed of.The drive to the slaughterhouse was shaky and her exposed intestines banged against the cold metal of the truck causing her severe pain. She suffered in silence as she knew her cries would not be heard. At last the truck stopped. She instantly realised where she was and what was going to happen to her, as she smelt the blood of the other pigs that had been brutally slaughtered moments before. She waited her turn in the yard where forklifts were moving the organs and skins of the pigs that had already been slaughtered. We watched her being kicked and forced to move to the slaughterhouse, and then she disappeared from our sight forever. She was never for one moment treated like a living being in her entire life.We do not want any living beings to experience a life like Sakura. We do not want to see any living being suffer from violence, pain and sorrow. We, the Animal Rights Center, stand up for poor voiceless animals and expose the stories of suffering animals like Sakura. We are determined to continue taking action to put an end to this suffering.
