Nanakusano sato is a company that produces natural mayonnaise called “Matsuyda no Mayonnaise.”We found out the eggs this company uses are all cage-free. The company intends to keep this policy in the future. We confirmed this is the first Japanese company with such a policy. They said the reason they only use cage-free eggs is “it’s just simply natural.”This is from their website:What is natural? Don’t touch much. Don’t add much. Keep the conventional way. It takes effort, but it is natural to take time. Don’t overdo. Let nature take care of things. Nature will take care of crops, birds, and fermentation. While there are companies who are not using eggs from hens in cages such as this one, many companies still keep birds in cages. No natural eggs come from hens who are not able to walk and spread their wings in confined cages. It’s such an important behavior for birds to cherish. Hens in cages Cage-free Hens Note: this is not a farm Nanakusa no sato uses for their mayonnaise, it’s just an example of farm using the cage-free method. We’re seeing more and more cage-free eggs at supermarkets. However, the majority of eggs still come from hens in cages.Packages must show “cage-free,” “free-range,“ or “JAS Organic” to mean hens were not kept in cages. So “natural,” “earth,” or “conventional,” alone does not necessarily qualify as natural eggs, and can mean eggs were still produced in a way in which hens were confined in cages. Please read the package to make sure it reads “cage-free” or “free-range“ if you would like to purchase eggs that are animal friendly rather than buy eggs without any labeling to indicate how hens were treated. If you know that the egg company you usually buy from uses cages (if there is nothing on the label, there is a high chance the company does), demand the company switch to “cage-free” or “free-range“ methods.
