MIHOPAN, a sincere bakery in Higashi-Osaka City that has consistently provided bread made with carefully selected ingredients, has recently pledged to only use cage-free eggs moving forward, showing their support for the cage-free movement. The owner, Miho, became increasingly aware of the poor treatment of animals in Japan, especially those used for ingredients in her bread, such as domestic butter, eggs, and meat. As she delved deeper into the issue, she realized she could no longer continue using these products under the same conditions. Since then, she has been committed to selecting ingredients that consider animal welfare.MIHOPAN has already transitioned to using only cage-free eggs. Additionally, the menu items that used to contain ground chicken and pork have been replaced with soy meat.Animal Rights Center Japan welcomes MIHOPAN’s compassionate choice for animals. Why Transition to Cage-Free Eggs?In Japan, the conditions in which animals are kept are often hidden from the public, leaving little opportunity for people to be informed. However, the reality is that the treatment of animals is far from humane. One such example is the treatment of egg-laying hens. 99% of egg-laying hens in Japan are kept in cages where they are confined and unable to move, living as egg-laying machines 24/7, 365 days a year. The space per hen is smaller than an iPad, which is even smaller than the hen’s own body. Many hens are kept in windowless sheds, completely deprived of natural sunlight. These inhumane practices have led to a growing demand for cage-free eggs internationally, and many countries are abolishing cruel cage systems. The Global Shift Away from Caged EggsCage farming, driven solely by production efficiency, is being banned by law in many countries, including the EU. In Japan, too, more consumers and companies are beginning to turn away from cruel cage eggs produced by unhealthy, unnaturally raised chickens. Will you and your company join the global movement towards cage-free eggs and not be left behind?▶︎ Over 240 Companies!
