The investor initiative FAIRR, which sheds light on the risks of animal-based protein (total invested asset balance of more than 2000 trillion yen), recommends the transition to plant-based protein, but the first important step in responding to this is that consumers can easily obtain new plant-based protein = veggie meats and soy milk products. Since Japan is a country with many tofu products, it’s possible that people have traditionally high plant-based protein intake. However, to reduce animal-based protein, penetration of products such as veggie meats and soy milk yogurt is indispensable. If these continue to be available only through mail order, penetration will be difficult. Thus, we surveyed how much vegetarian meat (soy meat and gluten meat), soy milk yogurt, and ice cream without animal ingredients can be purchased at supermarkets.* This is the first survey on the availability of plant-based protein, so it cannot be compared with the past.Selling veggie meat 72 stores 26.67%Not selling veggie meat 198 stores 73.33%Selling soy yogurt 153 stores 56.67%Not selling soy yogurt 117 stores 43.33%Selling vegan ice cream 218 stores 80.74%Not selling vegan ice cream 52 stores 19.26% Veggie meat is available in only 1/4 of the stores. Moreover, it appears difficult to spread as a substitute for meat because the sales area is the dry food area. Soymilk yogurt is carried by 56% of the stores. More alternatives are expected to develop in the future. Vegan ice cream includes shaved ice types, so many stores carry them. Many commented that soy milk ice cream was available; replacement is thought to have begun. We hope this will increase in the future. Also, we hope that the value of tofu, thick fried tofu, koya tofu, fried tofu, and ganmodoki will be reassessed and further increase, and its wide range of uses expand. Why not sign up for Vegan21 and experience a plant-based, clean, eco-friendly, and ethical lifestyle for 21 days?Sign up here: https://arcj.org/vegan21/ [Survey details]Surveying organizations: Certified NPO Animal Rights Center JapanSurvey method: Visitation survey by 77 volunteersStores surveyed: 270 stores in 24 prefectures countrywideClick to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on X (Opens in new window)Share This Previous ArticleSupermarket Survey: Animal Welfare Next ArticleMinister responds "I agree" to Representative Horikoshi's explanation of the need for promoting animal welfare 2019/11/08
