On June 3, 2025, at a Lower House Environment Committee meeting, Representative Kenko Matsuki of the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan pointed out that the prior loss of consciousness at poultry slaughterhouses is highly problematic because more than 70% of such practices are not done in Japan, despite the fact that loss of consciousness is a prerequisite in the world.
