The combined-type children’s center FLOWER CHILDREN, located in Sosa City, Chiba Prefecture, has decided to use only cage-free eggs for its meals.FLOWER CHILDREN operates three businesses: a small-scale nursery, care for sick and convalescent children, and an after-school children’s classroom. They provide home-like, small-group childcare and education. From October 2023, the meals provided at the facility have been transitioned to organic, and at the same time, they switched to cage-free eggs. Even the mayonnaise has been changed to use cage-free eggs.‘If We’re Switching, Let’s Make Everything Better’According to the director of the children’s center, the decision to go cage-free was made with the intention of switching to all good quality products when transitioning the meals to organic. The cage-free eggs are sourced from local producers, also achieving the goal of local production for local consumption.A society kind to both children and animalsEven in places where organic school meals are provided, most of them focus primarily on vegetables and crops, with little to no emphasis on animal products. We believe that, even if the products are not organic, at least those from better animal farming environments should be chosen. This is not only for the sake of animals but also for the health and food education of children. We earnestly hope that school meals nationwide will use products from better farming environments.FLOWER CHILDREN, kind to both children and animals, is expected to become a model for a sustainable society in the future. Which nurseries, kindergartens, and schools will follow suit? We strongly encourage a commitment to cage-free practices for the sake of children!Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on X (Opens in new window)Share This Previous ArticlePercentage of Cage-Free Chickens in Japan Is 1.11% While Other 98.89% Are Cage Raised: 2023 Survey Results Next ArticleGOOD NEWS!!
